Renovacion Las Aguilas 1, 4 & 5 Group
Nieve's family is formed by herself and four children, only one of which lives with her. She lives in the town of Santiago, the second largest in the country. The town's economy depends on agriculture, cattle raising and tobacco growing, among others. The town also has a large Dominican and Haitian immigrant population who live with very limited resources. They love to listen and dance to music in their free time.
Nieve is very excited to receive her fourth loan with Esperanza Internacional after having duly paid her previous loan and taken the step to grow her business. She has had her business for around 2 years. She started it when she took her first loan. Nieve plans to invest her new loan in her business. She sells new clothes to a varied clientele. She will use her income to renovate her home and to purchase some furniture she still misses.
This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
