Kris Milagros is 29 years old, single, and has one son. She runs a travel agency, which is located in the city of Cusco. She and her relatives want to open a beer shop on the first floor of their house, which is why she is requesting this loan. She and her family will take it in turns to run this new business. She will use the requested loan to install the beer shop in her home.
The other members of the bank are small traders. They run a restaurant, a karaoke bar, and a hardware store, while two group members work promoting live shows.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
