Mwanaisha is a married woman with four children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are school fees and food for the family.
She operates a restaurant business, cooking beans and rice, making tea and chapati (flat bread). Her potential customers are villagers and passersby. In addition she sells cashew nuts and paraffin to provider her with another source of income. Mwanaisha hopes to expand and establish a hotel in the future.
With the 40,000 Kshs she wants to purchase stock of beans, rice, sugar, tea leaves, milk and cooking fat oil for her restaurant business. She decided to join Yehu to get loans to expand her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
