Miraga S. is a 47-year-old farmer who raise cattle. He has five years of experience in this field. Currently Miraga has three cows. He usually purchases small calves, raises them and sells them in the livestock bazaar once every 6 months. His main income is from selling milk and milk products. He is married with a son and daughter. His son helps Miraga to look after his cows. Miraga applied for a loan of 1000 AZN to buy an additional cow.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
