Mirismayil M. is a 27 years old trader who runs his own business in the Agsu city of Azerbaijan. He has two years of experience selling phone accessories. With the first loan from Kiva and AqroInvest he started a business selling men's clothes and now he has two shops. He decided to open a new shop but in a different area and discovered that the phone accessories business is more profitable and can generate constant income. Now this business brings him enough profit to cover the needs of his wife and two children.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
