The “Copo de Nieve” (Snowflake) Communal Bank initiated its 22nd loan cycle with Pro Mujer (Pro Woman), reporting to the Santiago II Office. “Snowflake” is a very old group that is well known. The bank is composed of 8 members, 7 of whom are women. The businesses they run are varied: selling groceries, selling CDs and DVDs, dressmaking, artisan work, selling cosmetics, and fast food sales in a micro snack shop.

Lucila, president of the communal bank, says she joined the bank thanks to an invitation from a girl friend some 9 years ago. Married, the mother of 4 children, her business sells general merchandise in a store located in a commercial zone of El Alto, starting some 20 years back. Lucila comments that this business was a product of her own initiative.

Her 1st loan was for 2,000 Bolivars. Now, she is requesting 6,000 Bolivars, to improve her store. Her sales occur every day during the entire day. To carry out the work she has the help of her daughters.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she commented 'the health training'; also, she said that the attention received in the consulting office is good.

La B.C. “Copo de Nieve” inicia su ciclo número 22 en Pro Mujer, como parte del Centro Focal Santiago II, es un grupo antiguo que ya se conoce. Está compuesta por ocho integrantes, 7 mujeres y 1 varón. Los negocios que ellas desempeñan son variados: venta de abarrotes, venta de CD – DVD, costura, artesanía, venta de cosméticos y venta de comida rápida en un micro Snack.

La señora Lucila, presidenta de la banca comunal indica que forma parte del B.C. “Copo de Nieve” gracias a la invitación de una amiga hace nueve años. Casada, madre de cuatro hijos, su negocio es la venta de productos en general en una tienda ubicada en una zona comercial de la zona de El Alto, desde hace 20 años atrás. Ella comenta que este negocio fue producto de su propia iniciativa. El primer crédito fue por Bs. 2000.-, ahora ha solicitado Bs.6000.- para la mejora de su tienda. Las ventas son realizadas todos los días durante todo el día, para esta labor tiene la ayuda de sus hijas.

Cuando se le consulta que le gusta de Pro Mujer, ella comenta que es la capacitación en salud; tambien comenta que la atención del consultorio le parece buena.
