In this Group: Saima, Parveen, Bilquis, Samina, Nazish, Parveen Kosar
Saima is 33 years old, the mother of a daughter and a son. Both of them are enrolled in a school and getting their education. She lives in a two-room brick house with her children. She is a talented lady who operates a school in the community, where she provides the services of a teacher. She has in her school a fair number of students, due to its high quality of education and good environment. Her children are also getting their education from their mother’s school.

Saima has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah for her school. With the loan, she will buy furniture, such as chairs and tables, and also stationery items, such as pencils and notepads, to provide a better study environment for her students.

She has been running the school for the past four years and is hopeful that through this investment she will be able to educate many more children and help to make their future bright, and so her own kids' as well.

She is a new loan applicant at Asasah, and this is her first loan application.

Note: In the photo, the lady holding the book (called Asasah Passbook) is Saima.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
