Emily is an unmarried 23-year-old who is secretary of the “Nueva Integracion” (New Integration) Group. From a very early age, in childhood games she always wanted to be the teacher. Now at her present age, she has pursued this vocation, which led her to study in the University of “La Cantuta”. This has meant that since leaving school, Emily has worked in the “I.E.P. “EULE”, motivated by her aunt. Emily has worked in that school for 6 years, and she paid for her studies with loans from Edaprospo. And now, finally, she has purchased a scooter to serve as a taxi in the zone and her father drives it.

The group has existed for 2 years and is in its 4th loan cycle. But Emily has only belonged to the group for a month. She is one of 9 members of the group, which owes its name to the zone they live in, “New Alliance”.

They are happy to count on the help of Edaprospo and the capital it offers to improve their lives.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
