The Kiva borrower is a 55-year-old married man from Lebanon. He is the father of five children, two of whom are still attending school. He is the main income provider for his family. He has twenty years of experience working as a farmer. He has been running his own farm since 1995. He is specialized in cultivating bananas and citrus fruits. He uses plastic tents to grow his products. These tents also allow him to better monitor product quality as well as grow his products for more months during the year. He works independently in his business.
Today, he is requesting a loan of $1000 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to perform maintenance for the irrigation system on his land. In the future, he is planning to add other type of vegetables and fruits to his farming.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
