Mrs. Cheng S. is a 28 year old married mother who currently lives in Kompong Tom province in Cambodia. She is married with two school-aged kids. To earn an income for living, Mrs. Cheng S. sells a few products such as perfume, fast food, plastic products in front of her home. Another source of family income comes from her husband who works as a building worker. Because selling is a profitable business for the family, Mrs. Cheng S. requested a loan to provide additional capital to purchase more items for selling.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
