María Eliza has been a wholesale merchant for the past 30 years. Her business is located one block from the commercial center. She is a hard-working and enterprising woman who works hard to make headway. She is a widow and has no children under her care. She has worked with Kiva partner Ceprodel for the past five years, and the loans have helped her improve her quality of life quite a bit since her business has grown and her home has improved its utilities.

Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry.
