Joel is a single man who owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. His greatest monthly expense is food.
He has operated a charcoal-selling business for over one year, selling as retail and from home to restaurant operators, neighbors and passersby. Joel faces the challenge of competition from other charcoal sellers and also poor quality of charcoal, leading to low sales volume. He hopes to expand his business from retail to wholesale in the future.
With the 20,000 Kenyan shillings, he wants to purchase bags of charcoal. Joel decided to join Yehu to get financial assistance to boost his business.
