Viviane
A. Viviane was born around 1980 in Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin.  She is married to TOVIHO Jean, a scrap metal merchant. Viviane is a mother of three children, who are all in school.  She is illiterate, but along with her husband, she ensures that all family expenses are covered. The family lives in Agbodjèdo, a district of Cotonou. 

Viviane has a business selling handbags at Dantokpa, the international market of Benin.  She gets her supplies of merchandise at Dantokpa and at the market in Lomé, the capital of Togo.  To improve her business and  increase her inventory of handbags, Viviane is requesting a loan from ALIDé for the fifth time.  The former loans she received from ALIDé have indeed been repaid. Her personal ambition is to have her own store but sometimes runs into difficulties in operating her business.

A. Viviane est née vers 1980 à Cotonou, la capitale économique du Bénin. Viviane est mariée à TOVIHO Jean, un ferrailleur. Viviane est mère de trois (03) ans, tous scolarisés. La famille vit à Agbodjèdo , un des quartiers de la ville de Cotonou. Viviane est analphabète et assure ensemble avec son mari toutes les charges familiales. Viviane mène comme activité la vente de sacs de sortie à Dantokpa, le marché international du Bénin. Viviane fait l’approvisionnement de ses produits au marché Dantokpa de Cotonou et au marché du Lomé, la capitale politique du Togo. C’est pour l’évolution de son activité et l’augmentation de stock de sacs que Viviane sollicite pour la cinquième fois de crédit auprès de ALIDé. Les anciens crédits reçus par Viviane auprès de ALIDé ont été bien remboursés. Viviane a pour ambitions personnelles d’avoir sa propre boutique mais rencontre parfois dans l’exercice de son activité quelques difficultés.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
