Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $500 helped to purchase a bale of clothes for resale.

Caroline's story

Caroline is a married woman with five children, all of whom attend school. She rents a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is school fees.

Caroline operates a second-hand clothing business, selling from door to door to neighbors and passersby. Her potential customers are her neighbors. Caroline faces the major challenge of seasonality in her business.

With this 40,000 KES loan, she wants to purchase a bale of clothes for resale. Caroline decided to join Kiva partner, Yehu, because of its good reputation in the community. In the future, she hopes to build her own house.
