Caroline is a married woman with five children, all of whom attend school. She rents a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is school fees.
Caroline operates a second-hand clothing business, selling from door to door to neighbors and passersby. Her potential customers are her neighbors. Caroline faces the major challenge of seasonality in her business.
With this 40,000 KES loan, she wants to purchase a bale of clothes for resale. Caroline decided to join Kiva partner, Yehu, because of its good reputation in the community. In the future, she hopes to build her own house.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
