He is from Ostional de Guanacaste, one of the most beautiful regions of the country which is known for being a national wildlife refuge and also for its beautiful beaches.

Juan has been farming since he was a child, specifically sowing all types of vegetables and basic grains such as rice and beans. It seems that the end of the year will bring with it good weather for the harvest. For this reason, he needs a loan of 500,000 colones in order to prepare his land and purchase tools, seeds and organic fertilizer for his crops. This will allow him to make a good income for the end of the year and, above all, to continue his production.

El es de Ostional de Guanacaste, una de las zonas más bellas del país conocidas por ser un refugió nacional de vida Silvestre y por sus hermosas playas.

Desde niño se ha dedicado a la agricultura específicamente a la siembra de todo tipo de hortalizas y granos básicos tales como arroz y frijoles. Al pareces el fin de año traerá consigo un buen clima para la cosecha, es por eso que el necesita un crédito de ₡ 500 000 (quinientos mil colones) para la compra la preparación de su terreno, compra de herramientas, semillas y abono orgánico para sus cultivos. Esto le permitirá obtener buenos ingresos para fin de año y sobre todo para continuar su producción.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
