The Kiva borrower is a 29-year-old married man and the father of two school-age children. He is a new business owner. He opened a vegetable shop in 2007. In addition, he has prepared a corner where he buys fresh juices. He is the main income provider for his wife and two children. He takes care of the family expenses and the school fees. His story illustrates the day-to-day challenges many people are facing in trying to take care of household expenses, sickness and schooling and at the same time run a business. Today, he is requesting to borrow $1200 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to improve his business and increase his purchases. In the future, he is planning to open a juice shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
