Mukhtar's Group
In this Group: Mukhtar , Rani, Salma
Mukhtar, 47, is a housewife who spends most of her time at home doing her household responsibilities. She lives an area of the city of Pakpattan named 16/SP with her husband, in a 3-room brick house and doesn’t have any children. Pakpattan is located in Pujnab and is famous for its sugar production. Her husband, M. H., has a business dealing in livestock. He buys animals from animal markets at cheap rates and raises them for resale. He started this business 15 years ago and he has become expert in it. His clientele base is butchers and he meets their orders and generates good profit.

Mukhtar has applied for a loan from Kiva partner, Asasah, for her husband’s business. With the loan her husband will buy young animals and later sell them to his customers. She hopes that their family's living conditions will improve. She is a regular loan user of Asasah and this is her 3rd loan application. In previous loan years she has proved herself a responsible client who never missed any meeting and paid installments on time.

Note: In the photo, the lady who is raising her hand is Mukhta.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
