Maria is 30 years old, married and has four children. She lives with her husband and children in their own home in Tucume.
Maria makes a living raising livestock, specifically guinea pigs, goats, ducks, and chickens. She feeds her animals local plants and the chaff from the rice harvests in the region. Once her animals have reached the appropriate age and size, Maria sells them for their meat in the Moshoqueque market in Chiclayo. Maria’s husband works as a farmhand, a job that takes him out of the home most days and requires his constant attention in order to maintain work.
Maria is requesting this loan in order to purchase additional food for her animals. It will be her first loan. She hopes to be able to expand her herd and increase the income of her household. Maria is very dedicated to the well being of her family and dreams of expanding their home and providing an education to all her children.
