Gabriela V. P. is 31 years old and single. She lives together with her mother, Rosalía P. Solís, who is already an elderly grandmother, in Colomi, in Candelaria community toward the north.

Gabriela works selling groceries every day. She also works in agriculture, producing potatoes, beans and papa lisa (ulluco). In this way, she supports both of them, mother and daughter. For this reason, she appeared in the office to request a loan, because they need to build a house on a lot they purchased along the road. She will also move her grocery business there and have a better income. Finally, Gabriela reports that she will expand her grocery sales to provide better living conditions and live more comfortably together with her beloved mother.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
