NiL., age 58, raises animals at the back of the family home, allowing her to earn additional income for the family. She tends many kinds of animals, including goats, turkeys, ducks, and guinea pigs. These she sells in the markets in both the city of Lambayeque and the city of Chiclayo. In addition to raising animals, NiL. brews chicha (a traditional beverage which is consumed by the local workers and is prized during festivals) and maintains a small garden. She lives with her husband and daughter in their own home in the village of Hacienda Vieja in the district of Tucume.
NiL. is requesting this loan in order to purchase additional feed for her animals and to expand her gardening operation. She hopes to be able to maintain and raise her animals until the holiday season, when she will be able to sell them at a premium. She dreams of providing an education for her daughter and making improvements to her home.
This will be NiL.’s first loan with our institution and she has no previous experience with financial institutions. She is a well-respected member of her community and our review of her family income indicates that it is stable and sufficient.
