Khlang R. is a 54 year old widowed mother, and lives in Kompong Tom Province. She is the mother of three children; two are married and one is single. She doesn’t have a life partner as her husband because her husband died years ago. Khlang R. weaves mats in her house, and then takes them to the market every day to sell. Khlang R. depends on the income from her children, who work at different jobs. Her daughter always needs to hire a taxi to deliver her to work because she has no a vehicle. Khlang R. is looking for a loan to buy a secondhand motorcycle to aid with her daughter's traveling.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
