Baktygul A. is a 45 year-old widow with four children. At the age of 19, she got married and lived in a love-matched marriage for 20 years. In 2006, Baktygul’s beloved husband passed away and she became the only support for her children.

She decided to engage in cattle-breeding with the starting capital of 7,000 Kyrgyzstan Som (KGS) and did her best to develop it. She also started to cultivate a plot of land with perennial herbs, which serve as a concentrate of forage for her cattle.

Her tireless efforts in these activities allowed her to renovate the family’s house and give an education to her children. Her elder daughter went off in search of a living and now Baktygul, in order to help her, maintains her two little children, which further raise the family’s expenditures.

Baktygul wants to take a loan of 100,000 KGS to buy bull calves for fattening and reselling and to purchase manure to fertilize the land. She hopes that this will help her to increase revenue. Baktygul is a very attentive grandmother, who is fond of her grandchildren and indulges them with all her heart.
