Mwanatumu is a married woman with five children, four of whom graduated while one still attends school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is school fees. She has operated her juice selling business for over 18 years. She sells to passersby and her neighboring community. Mwanatumu faces the major challenge of seasonality in her business. During the winter rainy season, the demand for natural juice is very low compared to summer season. She hopes to purchase a pick up truck for light transport.
With the Kshs 80,000 loan she wants to purchase window shutters for her rental houses. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to improve her living standards.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
