John M. (the first one seated on the bench in the photo) is a 44-year-old father of five and a resident of the Buguruni area in Dar es Salaam city. For the past three years, he has been running a business selling charcoal. The government is now putting strict rules on cutting down trees, which affects his business. Because of this, he wants to expand his store so as to accommodate more stock, which will help him to stock enough charcoal to keep the business alive in the "no tree cutting season." He is in need of U.S. $375 to help expand his store.
