Peter is 31 years old and married with three children. He has been operating Mama Safi shop (a general store) to earn a living. His business is located in the Kwa Reuben slums, so most of his customers are low-income earners. His wife assists him in running the business because he is otherwise employed. In fact, he was not available for the photo so we took his wife’s photo at the business premises.
Peter has asked for his first loan of 20,000 KES to enlarge his business premises. He says that he is expecting that the loan will help him to improve his status.
