Mariam is a mother of four sons and two daughters. Mariam's husband is not able to take care of the family for personal reasons that are out of his control. Mariam is responsible for child-raising and expenses now. She receives a small salary from the Palestinian Authority.

Mariam needs a better source of income for a big family, so she decided to rent a small store to start selling fruits and vegetables. Mariam took a $1,500 loan from FATEN for this purpose and to help her eldest son Imad find a job, as he is thinking of working across the border, which might endanger his life.

Mariam's Son Imad appears in the picture here because she does not want her picture published.
