Mr. Em S. is a local chef who is hired by people to cook food for their wedding parties. Em S. is 41 years of age and is married to Mrs. Pailin, age 28, who generates income by working in a garment factory. This couple has two young kids who are going to school.
Em S. currently has an older mother (pictured) who stays at home to arrange the daily routine. The family faces difficulties traveling to work or anywhere else because they have no vehicle.
Em S. dreams of owning a vehicle and he has been trying to save up his money for a long time, but his savings are insufficient to buy one. Therefore, Em S. requests a loan to be able to afford to buy a new motorcycle.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
