Patrick has been practicing mixed farming for six years in Kitale town, western Kenya. His mixed farm produces milk and maize which he sells to the local market; he has only one employee. He also earns income from his motorbike business. He faces the challenge of animal diseases which are too costly to treat.
Patrick is 25 years old. He is married and has no children.
Patrick has requested this loan of 61,200 KES through Juhudi Kilimo to purchase and insure a dairy cow. He says this loan will help improve the livelihood of his family since he will be able to provide enough milk for domestic consumption.
In five years time, Patrick hopes to have acquired five more dairy cows and be a major supplier of milk to the Kenya Cooperative Creameries.
