Gnem M., 32, is married and lives with her two young children in Takeo province. She is a farmer who works for less than US$ 1 each day, while her husband is employed as a garment factory worker making US$ 3 each day. The weather conditions have been difficult for farming in Cambodia this past year and inflation has caused food prices to skyrocket. These factors have played into a difficult economic year for many Cambodians, Gnem M. included.
Since her family spends a lot on transportation, she needs to take out a loan to purchase a motorbike.
