Manos Forjadoras Group
Carmen Emiliana is part of the group “Manos Forjadoras” (Forging Hands), which consists of nine members who live in the district of Comas.
For the past 32 years, Carmen Emiliana has been managing a newspaper and magazine kiosk in a commercial area in cental Lima. Since she was 21 years old, her husband has been helping her with this business since it was started because he was fired from his previous job. She took advantage of her husband’s knowledge of this business since he learned all about it by helping his father when he was a young boy.
Thanks to her work, Carmen has been able to pay for her children’s college education, build a house, and achieve personal satisfaction. The loan she received will be invested in the purchase of miniature cars that are being used to advertise a local newspaper.

Gracias a éste trabajo han logrado pagar los estudios superiores D. sus hijos, construir su casa y sobretodo su satisfacción personal.
Con el préstamo recibido invertirá en la compra D. coleccion D. carros en miniatura que esta promocionando un diario local.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
