Eddy
Eddy G. A. is a forty-one-year-old gentleman who lives with his wife and children in the community of Hernández, located in the province of Alajuela. Since he was young he has been in the production and sale of milk.

Eddy has a lot experience in milk production. However, he is currently going through a bit of economic hardship because he needs 599,000 colones to buy milk cows so he can increase his income and get his business going again.

He is a member of Empresa de Crédito Comunal Unidos por un Desarrollo [United for Development Local Credit Enterprise], one of EDSA's one hundred member organizations in Costa Rica. This will be Eddy's first loan and he hopes to become more involved with this kind of organization.

Eddy G. A. es un señor de 41 años de edad el cual vive con su esposa y sus hijos en una comunidad llamada Hernández localizada en provincia de Alajuela; desde joven el se ha dedicado a la producción y venta de leche.

Don Eddy tiene mucha experiencia en la producción de leche, sin embargo actualmente esta pasando por un situación económica un poco difícil es por eso que el necesita ¢599,000 (quinientos noventa y nueve mil colones) para comprar vacas lecheras y aumentar sus ingresos y así reactivar su negocio.

El es socio de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal Unidos por un Desarrollo, una de las 100 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica. Este será primer préstamo y espera involucrarse más con este tipo de organizaciones.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
