Hard work and a social nature with a sense of determination has made B. Francis of Katega Development Group, Mubende, what he is today. This all began after taking a training course to become a professional tailor. This has developed his future in the tailoring business which he operates from the Kanyogoga Trading Centre in Mubende.

This seems to be fulfilling for him as he is in a position to earn 200,000 Ugandan shillings on a monthly basis. This has made the 38-year-old married father of four children able to care for his family's needs as he looks forward to achieving his dream of owning a big business in the area and buying himself more sewing machines. With this loan he hopes to buy more stock of materials from which he can make good designs for the customers as he looks at future business expansion.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
