Nelida
Nelida is 45 years old and a very happy and hard-working woman. She lives in her own home with her husband Jorge and she really wants to improve her quality of life. As they work together everyday in their fields, Nelida tries to change their current life, putting all her effort into growing bananas and coffe. They sell their crops in the market in La Merced where they can get the best prices. Her favorite part of her work is protecting her crops from insects. She has worked in this for 10 years but she thinks the hardest part of her work is getting her products to market since the sacks of crops are very heavy. In the future, she would like to improve her crops and get better prices. This is her 3rd loan with MFP and she feels like this loan will really help her to grow as a farmer. In her village bank, she is a very unified and involved member. She will use the 1800 soles ($650 USD) to buy fertilizer for her crops.
