Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $800 helped tubes, nails, zinc.

Ana Agentina's story

Ana is 48 years old and lives in the urban zone called "Orquídeas." The area is called this because they found a large quantity of orchid flowers here when it was discovered. Ana has a hardware store that sells spare parts and construction materials. Four years ago she was working as an employee at a warehouse of spare parts but she got sick and had to stop working there and begin a different job that would generate income and help her bring in money to be able to support her family. Now she has a small hardware store and she works from 7:00am to 11:00pm everyday. She sells tubes, paint, and construction materials. With this loan she wants to buy zinc, nails, and bricks to supply her store. In the future she wants her hardware store to grow so her income will provide for her and her husband in their old age.
