Happy Women

The Happy Women group is comprised of three women. Hermelinda Gilberta O. T. is the leader of the group. She is 25, and she sells fruits and soft drinks in the afternoons. She takes this opportunity to sell roasted corn on the cob. She started her business with help from her sister 12 years ago. She sold fruit in the offices close to where her sister was selling. The fruit that she sold was provided by her sister.

She was earning money, and she managed to buy her own fruit. She also sold sweets. Three years later she was able to have her own small stand on 35th Street Galerias del Sur in zone 11 in the capital. From there she was able to have a business stocked with sweets and fruits. Her biggest wish is to be able to excel in her small business and stock it with imported fruits.

Hilda T., another member of the group, has had a tortilla business in her house for eight years. Her family is comprised of five minor children. Her dream for her business is to be able to have another type of sales like firewood and beans to offer her customers.

The other member of the group, Ana Rosalia T. T., has been selling tortillas for five years. Her business is in her house. She has three minor children. Her biggest wish for her business is to hire another person to help her. She wants to do this in order to take care of the demand that she has in her business.

These women are requesting this loan because they have many plans and dreams for their lives. Therefore, they need the capital to work in their businesses.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
