Mwanaharusi is a married woman with three children, all of whom attend school. Her husband is a taxi driver and he contributes to meet the family's needs.
Mwanaharusi has been operating a tailoring business for the last year. She works from home and sews for schoolchildren and neighbors. Her major business challenge is seasonality. With her loan of 40,000 KES, she wants to purchase a bundle of materials. She hopes to be self-reliant so that she is able to live a better life in the future.
Mwanaharusi decided to join Kiva partner, Yehu, to get a loan to boost her business. She lives in a rental house with electricity and piped water. Her biggest monthly expenses are food and school fees.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
