Meu F. is a 60 year old widowed mother caring for five children. All five children are still living in the family home and are employed in different jobs. Meu F. is a recycling seller--she buys used goods to sell to a wholesaler, who then sells the goods in bulk to other countries. The used goods she deals in are mostly leftover electrical wires. Meu F. is looking for a loan to use as capital to buy more stock to increase her profits. Meu F. will provide part of the loan she requested for her son to use as capital for his clothing business.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
