Asif A. 42, owns a little grocery store in the local market where he sells a variety of goods. Asif and his wife have one daughter to support. His monthly income is 250-350 AZN. Asif has asked for a loan of 900 AZN to purchase more grocery products to expand his options and increase his inventory. He believes that this will allow him to reach a wider customer base so he can increase his income to provide for his family. Asif looks forward to seeing the results of this investment and wishes one day to build another food shop.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
