Sem S., 54, is a widowed farmer who lives with two children. Living in the Kampong Cham province, she typically makes $1 (US) every day and is aided by her children who work as blacksmiths. The Kampong Cham area has not seen favorable weather conditions for farming this past year. Along with increased inflation, it has been a difficult year economically in much of Cambodia. Sem S. is asking for a loan of $500 to purchase blacksmith tools for his children.
