Melia Teresa
Melia is a woman who has the drive to succeed, which is why she works with great enthusiasm. Eight years ago, she started a business selling Nicaraguan tamales and tortillas. As a result of the growth of her business, she was able to make improvements to her home. She was able to pursue construction projects with the help of loans from AFODENIC. The projects have been difficult if not impossible. However, since her husband works as a stonemason, she does not have to pay for labor.

With this loan, she plans to finish the construction so that she can provide her children with a decent home. Melia is pleased because the support provided by AFODENIC has made the construction process a little bit easier.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
