Alcom: Mi Amigo Jesus

Marina M. C. is 73, widowed and has 5 independent children and participates regularly in the Mi Amigo Jesus community bank. The other seven members are hardworking people as shown when they get together to make payments. They strive every day to improve their families' quality of life.

Such is the case with Marina who has a small shop in her home where she sells soda pop, cookies, bread and fruit. She also rents public bathrooms to the travelers in Corcona. Due to her age Marina has a hard time walking and does so with the help of a cane. Despite this obstacle she gives her best and keeps on working.

Her dream is to save up some money to finish building and roofing her home, since currently she has a roof made of aluminum sheeting. With her previous loan she bought merchandise and improved her sales which is why Marina trusts EDAPROSPO-PROSPERIDAD, and since they helped her improve her income. Today she is part of the community bank she needs a loan to buy candy, cookies, soda pop etc.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
