Mr. Santos is 59 years old, married, and has two young children. He is a dedicated and responsible father. This is not his first experience with loans. He works selling dairy products, mainly milk and cheese. He began this line of work 13 years ago. He was previously a salesman, and with time he was able to save enough money to start his own business. Every day he gets up very early to deliver the orders. In the future he hopes to expand his business and improve his quality of life.

El se dedica a la venta de productos lácteos, entre lo que sobresale la leche y el queso, sus inicios surgieron hace 13 años, por lo que anteriormente era vendedor con el tiempo logro recoger suficiente capital para poder establecer su propio negocio. Todos los días se levanta muy temprano para realizar la entrega de los pedidos que tiene pendiente. Por lo que espera en un futuro ampliar su negocio y mejorar su condición de vida.

Fundación Leon 2000 began operations in 1993 as the first microfinance institution to serve the western part of Nicaragua, a country which continues to be one of the poorest in the western hemisphere. Fundación Leon 2000 works to further the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises through credit services and management, applying the best credit industry practices and technical expertise. Additionally, Fundación Leon manages several business and financial education programs in the community, specifically for young entrepreneurs and at-risk youth. Fundación Leon 2000’s group of experienced and dedicated employees works in 7 offices in Leon, Chinandega, Chichigalpa, Somotillo, Jinotepe, El Sauce, and Nagarote and serves several thousand clients (the majority of whom are women).
