Roxana, 23, was born in the city of Chinchero located 30 minutes from the city of Cusco. She currently lives in Cusco with her husband and son, Mario Cesar, 1.

Roxana has sold sweets and soft drinks for the last 15 years to foreign and national tourists that come to visit the Chinchero archaeological sites.

Roxana is a member of the Natividad de Chinchero Association (a group of vendors that united to get social benefits). One can find Roxana at her sales stand seven days a week from 7am until 6pm or until the tourists leave the site.

Roxana expects to get 1000 new soles in her next loan. Part of the funds will be used to buy merchandise and the other will be used for her son’s Baptism.

The “Cusi Ccoyllor de Chinchero” communal bank has been in operation for two and a half years but Roxana is a recent collaborator in the bank and does well.

The name of the communal bank is a Quechua (the local native language) term that means “Beautiful Chinchero Princess.”

Roxana nació en la ciudad de Chinchero que está ubicado a 30 minutos de la ciudad del Cusco. Actualmente, Roxana vive en la ciudad del Cusco junto con su esposo y su hijo (Mario Cesar de un año). Roxana tiene 23 años y hace 15 años atrás se dedica a la venta de golosinas y gaseosas a los turistas extranjeros y nacionales que vienen a visitar la zona arqueológica de Chinchero. Actualmente, Roxana pertenece a la Asociación Natividad de Chinchero (Es un grupo de vendedoras que se asociaron para tener beneficios sociales). A Roxana la pueden encontrar en su puesto de venta, los 7 días de la semana, desde las 7 de la mañana hasta las 6 de la tarde o hasta que los turistas se vayan del lugar.

Con su próximo préstamo, Roxana que espera recibir S/. 1000 nuevos soles. Una parte del dinero del préstamo le gustaría comprar mercadería y la otra parte utilizara para el bautizo de su hijo.

El banco comunal “Cusi Ccoyllor de Chinchero” tiene dos años y medio de funcionamiento, pero Roxana recién está participando en el banco comunal y le va muy bien. El nombre del banco comunal es un término que en quechua (el idioma autóctono) significa “Princesa Hermosa de Chichero”.
