Diosdada
Diosdada P., aged 45, and her husband Eufrocino, aged 50, work hard to cover their daily expenses. They have a child in college. For the past ten years Diosada has owned and run a small videoke (karaoke) eatery, which generates 12,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) a month in earnings.

Diosdada would like to improve her business and has applied for a loan of 20,000 PHP to purchase food (meat, soft drinks, vegetables, and spices) as well as a new microphone for videoke. She believes the improvements and expanded inventory will help her attract more business and increase earnings.

Diosdada has been a member of the Center for Community Transformation since 2006 and has consistently attended weekly fellowship meetings. She hopes the earnings from her business will continue to help her cover her basic needs.

About CCT:

The Center for Community Transformation (CCT) is an organized Christian response against poverty and social injustice. This is carried out through the fusion of social development initiatives and evangelical missionary work in a uniquely Filipino context. It serves urban and rural poor communities throughout the Philippines in pursuit of its desire to see changed lives, strong families, and transformed communities centered in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. CCT is a member of the Five Talents family.

Locally, all CCT community partners and clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital and pay microfinance loans.

Given the state of devastation following this storm, borrowers living and working in these areas may have difficulty making repayments on their loans, thus making their Kiva loans higher risk. More information >>
