Mr. Soeur L. is a 53-year-old farmer and father whose wife appears in the photo here. He was blessed with seven children, two of whom are married while the other five are single. To help with the responsibility of family expenses, four of his children are employed at different occupations.
Soeur L. has a life partner in his wife, who works with him on the farm. The coming rainy season is good for growing; however, Soeur L. doesn't have any materials to support his field. Thus, Soeur L. has decided to ask a loan to use toward planting rice crops.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
