The seven members of the Benkadi III group are married women with an average age of 40 years and an average of four children. Most of them live in polygamous families in Wobougou, a village in the Dioïla prefecture in the Koulikoro region (2nd administrative region of Mali). They are working with the microfinance organization Soro Yiriwaso with the goal of better organizing their activities in the beginning of the rainy season. Their crops are rice, pearl millet, peanuts, and beans. They are on their second loan, and the previous loan was repaid in full.

With this new loan, Maïmouna F. plans to buy fertilizers and small farming equipment and to pay for labor costs to maintain about 1 hectare of peanuts and beans. Their crops are sold in the city of Dioïla and in Massigui after harvest to a clientele of both men and women. They expect to make an average profit of about 40,000FCFA per planting season.
Les sept membres du groupe Benkadi III sont des femmes mariées qui ont en moyenne 40 ans, 4 enfants et vivant la plupart dans des familles polygames à Wobougou, un des villages de la préfecture de Dioïla, région de Koulikoro, 2ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles collaborent avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso dans le but de pouvoir mieux organiser leurs activités en début d’hivernage. Les spéculations cultivées sont le riz, le petit mil, l’arachide et le haricot. Elles sont à leur deuxième prêt de campagne et le prêt précédent a été bien remboursé.
Avec ce nouveau prêt, MAÏMOUNA F. compte acheter les intrants, les petits matériels agricoles et payer les frais de labour pour entretenir environs 1 hectare d’arachide et de haricot.
Les productions sont vendues au niveau de la ville de Dioïla et Massigui après les récoltes à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes.
Elles comptent réaliser un bénéfice moyen de 40.000FCFA environs par campagne.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
