Jesus C. is from the village of Manaoag. He is 50 years old and is married with four adult children.
Jesus owns and operates a business planting and harvesting rice for sale. He has been engaged in his business for over twenty-four years and earns approximately 7,000 PHP a month.
In 2008, Jesus joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve his living situation and his ability to engage in business activities. He has successfully repaid a previous loan of 16,000 PHP from ASKI. This previous loan was used to purchase additional seeds, seedlings and young crops to raise.
Jesus is requesting a new loan of 16,000 PHP which will be used to purchase fertilizer such as manure. This loan will be his 6th from ASKI. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand his business.
ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has twenty-one branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly of farmers, fisherfolk and small-business entrepreneurs.
