Ermilo C.'s main source of income comes from operating motor transport (habal-habal) services. He is 36 years old, married and has two small children. They are from the village of Lapasan, Clarin, Misamis Occidental. Ermilo has been in his business for over three years and earns approximately 20,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) a month.
In 2009, Ermilo joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve his living conditions and enable him to engage in business activities. Ermilo has successfully repaid a previous loan of 20,000 PHP from GDMPC. He is requesting a new loan of 35,000 PHP which will be used to repair his vehicle for better service. This will be his seventh loan from GDMPC. He plans to use the additional revenue to improve the general living conditions of his family.
GDMPC is one of the most progressive cooperatives in Mindanao, Philippines. It has four branches and three unit offices covering the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental. Its membership is composed mostly of farmers, fisherfolks and small entrepreneurs.
