Mr. K. has been spending his life cultivating crops, which is a skill he learned from his grandparent when he was young. He is now married and has four school-aged kids. His wife frequently works in the farm fields alongside him.
Growing crops is an annual action with which K. has had great success. He is able to plant the crops at least twice a year by following both rainy and dry seasons. The growing season is approaching and he is pursuing a loan of $800 to be used to grow green beans.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
