Mr. Som S. R., 27, is an electronic repairman who learned his skills in a private school. He owns a small workshop in his home where he fixes all types of electronic material. He is married to R. Lay, a 27-year-old garment laborer, and they are blessed with one young child who is enrolled in school. Som S. R. has faced difficulties traveling to buy anything for his service or to get anywhere else because he doesn’t have his own vehicle. He dreams of having a motorcycle, but he can’t make that possible due to his saving is not being able to enough to buy one. Therefore, Som S. R. decided to request a loan which will enable him to afford purchasing a new motorcycle.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
